Author’s Name: Professor’s Name: Course code: Due Date: Training The Next Teachers For America: Summary ad Reaction In the article “Training the Next Teachers for America,” Megan Hopkins gives her account on the poor quality of training offered to Corps teachers. The author draws on her experience as a TFA Corps member and discusses how she felt underprepared during her first year of teaching. Lack of management skills and a shallow of understanding of students experiences are some of the challenges that made teaching a nightmare for Teach for America (TFA) fresh graduates. Unsurprisingly, like most other TFA Corps members, Megan left teaching within the first three years. In the light of her experience, the author recommends some approaches that might help improve the model. She suggests the following alterations in the preparation of corps members: extending the TFA commitment to three years, converting the first year of teaching to a residency year, and offering incentives for Corps members who opt to teach for more than three years [Hop08]. The author recommends these changes with the sole aim of improving the effectiveness of the training for Corps members while motivating TFA members to remain in the teaching career for more than three years.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
