Page 1 of 3 EE 435 Homework 2 Spring 2014 Due Friday Jan 31 In the following problems, if reference to a semiconductor process is needed, assume processes with the following characteristics: CMOS Process -- n C OX =100 A/v 2  p C OX = n C OX /3 ,V TNO =0.5V, V TPO = - 0.5V, C OX =2fF/ 2 , n p= 0.01V -1 , and    V   Bipolar Process -- J S =10 -15 A/ 2 , β=100 and V AF =150V. Problem 1 The gain of the following feedback amplifier was derived in class and it was shown that if the gain G M is large that the feedback gain approaches -R 2 /R 1 . Determine the gain of the feedback amplifier if the load resistor R L (shown in the second part of the figure) is included and determine how that load resistor affects the gain of the feedback amplifier if G M is large. V IN R 1 R 2 G M V OUT V IN R 1 R 2 G M V OUT R L Problem 2 Assume the amplifier shown is designed in a 0.5μ CMOS process. and that V DD =5V and V SS =-1.5V.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.

Jill Tulane University ‘16, Course Hero Intern
