Homework Assignment EE 435 Homework 5 Spring 2014 If process parameters are needed for solving any of the following problems assume V THn =V+=0.75V,μ n C OX =100ua/V 2 ,and μ p n /3. If any other parameters are needed, use the process parameters appended to this assignment. Problem 1 Assume the source-coupled pair is used to build a difference amplifier with ideal current source biasing in the tail and with the drains connected to V DD . If I T =1mA, size the devices so that the nonlinearity in the drain current is less than 2% for differential input voltages up to 500mV. Problem 2 Assume the cross-symmetric amplifier shown is sized so that W 5 = θ W P and W 3 =(1- θ )W P where W P is the effective width of M 3 /M 5 . a) Obtain an expression for the dc voltage gain if θ =0 b) Compare the GB power efficiency of this amplifier with that of the reference op amp for θ =0. c) Determine θ so that the gain becomes infinite d) If θ is decreased by 1% from the value obtained in part a), how large is the gain?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
