UNIT 4 ASSIGNMENT 2 Unit 4 Assignment According to the guidelines of HIPPA a patient’s medical information is protected. In this case the phone number would be classified as PHI; otherwise known as Protected Health Information. There are many different types of information that fall under this category, which range from the patient’s name to the diagnosis. With the case in question the best course would be to talk to the doctor that had treated the patient. The doctor that treated the patient would be allowed to view more information on the patient. This would allow the patient to be contacted; however it would also insure that the patient’s confidentiality rights according to HIPPA are protected. One way a patient’s rights are kept in the waiting room is only one person will be allowed to approach the counter at a time. This insures other patients don’t overhear any private information concerning the patient. Another way a patient’s rights are being protected is by using
