Case Study 02: Will Volvo’s perks give Ford sticker shock Name : Classe : 45C Date : 20 th of Mar 2014 Case 02: Volvo versus Ford To the kind attention of: Dr. Hesham Sadek Problem The main problem here Volvo employee’s Fear loosing their luxurious work environment after the change in the management especially that the CEO said :“ there are no guarantees” . This problem is commonly occurs in case of company acquisition. Volvo employees are stable and enjoy benefits, on the other hand Ford employees follows the American Work conditions & 3 shift schedules, which ensures the maximum productivity for maximum profit Definition of the Problem Both organizations have different work culture although they produce the same goods, it is therefore important to evaluate how culture is affected when such an operation take place. Employees may fear: 1- Loosing their jobs or loosing opportunities that they formerly had. This fear can negatively impact productivity and may even result in employees leaving the company to seek jobs elsewhere. 2- Loosing the wealth of benefits they already have (They get to enjoy luxury facilities at minimal cost “gym, swimming pool, tennis courts, physical therapy sessions, health club). 3- To change their work ethics, & get involved in the tough American production time table, after following their relaxed timetable.
