Running head: City of Dallas, Texas financial conditions 2 From the financial report of the City of Dallas ,it’s clear that the liquidity is high, the current ratio is a popular financial ratio that is used to test the a firm’s liquidity through deriving the proportion of current assets that are available to cover the current liabilities in a firm. The trend in the financial statement shows a trend of high liquidity which have continued to reduce each year with the current year’s current ratio being 3.18-This clearly demonstrates that the short term assets (cash, cash, equivalent, marketable securities, the receivables and inventory are therefore largely available to pay off the short term liabilities (the notes payable, the payables expenses and the taxes). The adequacy of the funds seems to have improved over the years. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that the intergovernmental revenues have continued to reduce, this means that the city has been able to collect more and more revenue each year and therefore raising the adequacy of funds. This has helped the city to be more relying on its own revenue that the government revenue. Also regarding the constituents of revenue, they have changed over the years; the intergovernmental revenues have reduced over the years while the city has been able to collect more revenue from its own sources. This show that the city has been able to raise more stable revenue from different sources that are more stable and sustainable The tax burden has increased over the number of years. This has been brought about by more revenue being collected emanating from the taxes. The taxes account for much of the city’s revenue and the constitution allows for the taxes to be levied.
