INTRODUCTION In the 21 st century, employee engagement has gained much concern from senior executives because of its positive effects on organizational development. Many research suggested that there might be a strong connection between employee engagement, employee performance and business outcomes. (Kular et al, 2008). Harvard Business Review also pointed out that " a highly engaged workforce can increase innovation, productivity, and bottom-line performance while reducing costs related to hiring and retention in highly competitive talent markets". These findings have emphasized the increasingly importance of employee engagement and employee well-being in all business areas. This research focused on employee engagement in tourism sector, which experiences a substantial growth in recent years and is expected to be an essential component of the modern Viet Nam construction economy. Total international arrivals in 2014 reached 7,874,312, increase 4.0% over the same period in 2013. This significant growth is reasonable because Vietnam has a variety of tourist attractions such as heritage and historical sites, beautiful beaches and mountainous regions, along with unique cuisine and culture. However, compared to Thailand and China, the tourism services in Vietnam are relatively poor due to lack of qualified employees. Though the number of tourists coming to Vietnam is huge, not many of them choose Vietnam as their repeat destination. In tourism sector, the employees' behavior strongly affects customer satisfaction as well as profit of organization because employees face usual direct interactions with customers.
