RESEARCH PROPOSAL The problem The problem facing the organization, specifically my department, is high employee turnover, leading to a conflict on the enrolment of workers who are inadequately qualified and trained on the compulsory requirements as expected by the state. This is a problem because we are understaffed most of the time and attempts to employ under-qualified staff often leads to them getting fired or quitting as they cannot achieve what is expected of them. In addition, it becomes difficult for them to continue working as they are continually being frustrated by those opposed to their employment, leaving them in the middle of a conflict. They do not know how to deal with the two opposing sides. The problem as a management concern The above problem is a management concern because it presents barriers to workplace productivity. Employee conflicts, improper hiring, and high employee turnover place the organization at a disadvantage as they result in other problems such as high costs of hiring replacements and training them. Costs also include lost production when the employees quit. There is also inconsistency in the overall production not only due to the unpleasant environment, because of the conflict in the workplace, but also as a result of the absorption of the responsibilities of the vacant positions by the remaining staff and training of new employees as they are not adequately trained.
