What are we going to learn in this class? When we are designing, we have many degrees of freedom . After the system has been purchased and installed, those degrees of freedom become constraints Our work will be used by other disciplines, so they need to understand what we require so they can manufacture / buy / install it It is extremely rare that the size we need = size available. We therefore have to buy what is the best fit for our application 4
