ICT3642/101 3 1 INTRODUCTION Dear Student Welcome to Business Informatics IIIB . We hope that you will find the module both interesting and rewarding. We will do our best to help you achieve success. You will be well on your way to success if you start studying early in the semester and resolve to do the assignments properly. 1.1 To get started Because this module is fully online, you need to go online to access your study materials and to read about the requirement of the module. Go to the website and log in with your student number and password. You will see ICT3642-16-S1 or S2 in the row of modules in the orange blocks at the top of the webpage. Remember to check in the “More” tab if you cannot find the module code in the orange blocks. Click on the module you want to open. As this subject is offered online, you will only receive this tutorial letter in print format. Please download Assignments 01, 02 and 03 as well as Tutorial letter 102 from “Additional resources” on myUnisa. We wish you success on your journey! 2 OVERVIEW 2.1 Purpose This module aims to enable business analysts to develop and implement business strategies for online, electronic commerce to facilitate efficient electronic business. Specific outcome 1: Demonstrate a sound knowledge of how the new internet economy works. Assessment criteria: Students critically analyse the advantages and disadvantages of e-commerce. Students critically analyse the different e-business models. Students’ descriptions of the advantages and disadvantages are correct and correspond with the theory. Students can differentiate between the different e-business models. Specific outcome 2: Demonstrate the ability to develop and define an e-business idea. Assessment criteria: Students demonstrate an informed understanding of the entrepreneurial process.
