COMPARISON PAPER 2 The United States Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists each played a vital role in the founding of our great nation. These three documents are similar in some aspects yet also have their differences. One of the major differences between The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution is that the Declaration has many references God whereas the Constitution does not. The Declaration of Independence was the first of these three historical documents to be written. It was drafted in June of 1776 by Thomas Jefferson and adopted into Congress on July 4, 1776. The Declaration states the grievances the original thirteen colonies had against the King of England and the intent to become an independent and sovereign nation free from British rule. Thomas Jefferson believed that the King George III should not rule over citizens of the United States as he had no regard for their rights. The United States Constitution followed the Declaration of Independence and was written September 17, 1787.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
