INTERNET AND E-MAIL By the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to: a) Define internet b) Explain the importance of internet c) Describe Internet connectivity requirements d) Identify Internet requirements e) Access the In f) Use e-mail facilities. g) State the moral, social and spiritual issues that may emerge through access to the internet. Introduction (Definitions) A computer network: Is a group of computers and devices connected to together using a transmission media for the purpose of communication and resource sharing. Resources shared include: Printers, programs, files, modems, storage devices etc. The Internet: A large network of networks that connects computers world wide via a set of telecommunication links. Because of its large size and great volume of information that passes through it, it is sometimes called Information Superhighway . Intranet: Is a small version of Internet within a company or organization that offers the same features like a global Internet but in a localized environment.
