Animal research has played a major role in understanding human behavior. These types of studies have helped researchers with the understanding of how certain parts of the brain or neurotransmitters contribute to healthy development and functions. Today this research is vital and critical to the understanding of human behavior. According to Psychology Today, “The study of animal behavior is a cornerstone of experimental psychology, shedding light on complex human emotions.” (NEAVS, 2016). Animals are used in research to find out what the mind and behavior are like when in pain or discomfort, even helps with psychiatric disorders.
