Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius & Thomas Aquinas The similarities between the three philosophers in both lessons are shared through both the Ancient Roman Philosophy and the Medieval Religious Philosophy. The Stoics in Ancient Roman Philosophy believed that everything happens for a reason and that due to this reasoning the goals in life and what is happens daily should be in compliance to divine laws and not through conflict. Similar to Thomas Aquinas and the Medieval Religious Philosophy the Stoics believed that God is ingrained in all matter, and his sole purpose is to create order in the world. Both Stoics and Thomas believed that through spiritual growth they could overcome the disturbances of the social order. In the event I would choose a particular philosopher to study I would choose Thomas Aquinas. With a similarity in Catholicism it would be easier for me to related the studies of his theological works and relate them to my life and religious beliefs today.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
