Henry The Gift of the Magi This is a short story of a couple Jim and Della Dillingham Young. Jim’s salary was reduced from thirty dollars a week to twenty. Della has been saving pennies for several months to buy Jim a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve she has only saved one dollar and eighty seven cents. The couple’s most prized treasures are Della’s hair, and Jims gold watch. Della realizes that her savings are not near enough to buy Jim a great present. Della decides to cut her hair so she can buy Jim a Silver chain for his watch. She is happy that she was able to buy it but she had to sacrifice her only treasure to get it. When Jim arrives home, he cannot believe Della cut her hair. For the gift he got her was a pair of pure tortoise shell combs she had only
