English - 18 th Century Novel Professor Freeman 11/10/2007 3 rd Reaction Paper Tristrampedia The most difficult part in writing a reaction paper to The life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman is deciding what to focus on. There is so much in the novel that interests me, but I feel the section dealing with Walter and the Tristrampedia is the most touching to my life. For the past few years I have questioned my parents decisions in raising me, they didn’t have me listening to Mozart or reading, or doing math at an early age which are things that I feel could’ve increased my intelligence in the long run. Recently I decided that if I have a child, he/she will be exposed to the things I wasn’t at an early age… then I read about Walter’s Tristrampedia, and began to rethink my decision as rather self-serving. Walter wants to compile a book full of knowledge specifically for his son Tristram. In the Tristrampedia we have the history of circumcision, along with notable men who were circumcised, as well as life lessons and experiences
