Network Design Proposal Prepared for: University of Maryland University College Prepared by: Student Name I.Physical Network DesignA.Network Topology Business NeedsThe network needed is one built with subnets that provide security and minimize traffic by using VLAN technology. Layer 2 switches will be used in the design to ensure maximum efficiency. Students are heavy consumers of internet with variable internet uses. They internet for video streaming, heavy movie downloads and video calling. Staff users need internet for internal communication, file sharing and administration critical tasks. The public networks have a high numbers of IP addresses being used and traffic is variable. In the event that these networks are all combined, serious problems arise and become a challenge. Among them security, All computers are in the same network and thus hackers may snoop on administration data and compromise integrity. DDOS attacks and bandwidth may be consumed through networks hacks. This is very dangerous. Another problem is traffic; the larger number of devices may cause an overload causing poor quality of service. Proposed Topology The proposed topology is a star topology with a distributed fashion i.e. distributed star where every host in the network is connected to a central router or switch. This will acts as a server and computers or extra switches are clients. This is one of the easiest topologies to designs[2,p75- 86] . The switches can be daisy chained to accommodate extra computersJustification The star topology is one of the easiest systems to set up hence provides alower TCO- total cost of ownership. Daisy chaining of the network ensures that additional routers and
