Total Market Size: The US footwear market reached $44.4 billion in sales in 2007. Market size of individual Brand and relative market share: UGG is a branch of the Deckers Outdoor Company. Deckers is a larger brand in the US boot manufacturer’s market, holding a Stock Market Capital of $1,569,000,000. This is much larger than most companies, only comparable with Iconix Brand Group and Wolverine World Wide. Deckers Outdoor Corp employs 191 people, and came out with $303.4 million dollars in sales last year. Industry trends: The U.S. footwear market increased 1.6% from 2006, a smaller increase than the past two years, but an increase never-the-less. Positively, however, casual and dress casual shoes are up .8% and 2.4% opposed to athletic shoes, which are down 3.3%. People are spending less and less on retail due to a slow economy.
