Unformatted text preview: PPD 402: Management of Public and Nonprofit Organizations Introduction Dr. David F Suárez Professor of Public Administration School of Policy, Planning, and Development Welcome • Find someone you do not know and interview that person in order to introduce him or her. The introduction should include: – Their name, major and class standing – Three specific ideas or insights about management that they would like to gain as a result of this class • You have 10 minutes to interview this person. Course Requirements • Satisfactory performance in this class requires that you: – read all materials assigned for each class prior to the class meeting dates listed on the syllabus; – effectively participate in the seminar discussions and class activities; – analyze all assigned case studies with sufficient preparation to engage in critical thought and discussion; – make written and oral presentations of case analyses; – completion of all written assignments in a timely fashion. • Electronic submission of all class assignments is required. Blackboard’s drop box is available for that purpose. Do not send them to me via e-mail. If your assignments cannot be transmitted electronically please tell me in advance so alternative arrangements can be made. Midterm and Final Exam • The midterm will be an in-class assignment for March 12. You may use your notes. You may not collaborate. • The final exam will be a take-home assignment, due by lunch on May 7 (12:00 PM). You may not collaborate.
