Kevin Park Soper POSC104.01 American People and Politics The Constitutional Covention: The Debate on Presidency According to the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, the definition of king is “a male sovereign or monarch; a man who holds by life tenure, and usually by hereditary right, the chief authority over a country and people.” Many countries in the modern world today are controlled by a single king as the head of the nation, with many branches of government with various powers under the sovereign. Kings like these are offered immeasurable amounts of power, and the power often warrants them to perform abnormal, and sometimes uncontrollable, actions that may either benefit or harm the nation. However, what system does North America run under? While we do not have a sovereign king to look over us, we do have a formidably structured government to regulate and control the nation.
