(0-30 points) ABC Healthcare network security requirements should be surrounded by the regulatory requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). Both pieces of legislation highlight the need for good systems administration and controls, but focus on different aspects of the business. HIPAA is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was passed by Congress in 1996. It provides the ability to transfer and continue health insurance coverage for millions of American workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs, Reduces health care fraud and abuse; Mandates industry-wide standards for health care information on electronic billing and other processes; and requires the protection and confidential handling of protected health information. [DCH16] When addressing ABC Healthcare’s security or technical design the plan should be an essential aspect of ABC network’s business continuity plan. The first step is safeguarding incidents and preparing for how to deal and document them all correctly. Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability are the initial building blocks.
