Unformatted text preview: 1 Corinthians 15:5: “Behold, I shew you a mystery, We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed”. Used for proof of the rapture by groups who believe in it. Jesus will return, but only half way…those who believe in him will be snatched up...living people as well…people will be transformed. Add more? 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5: The time of Jesus’ coming will be a great surprise, but people should be ready. It will be awful for people who do not believe in Jesus. One cannot distract themselves with their ideas of “peace and safety” because the only source of peace and safety is in Jesus. But if you are a “child of the light” this day will be good for you. We must “watch and be sober” not “sleep” and ignore what is coming. Shitty response, elaborate. 2 Thessalonians 2:2-4: Must always remember that Christ is coming, no matter what people say. Believers should not allow themselves to be swayed by people who do not know the truth. 666: “number of the beast” from the book of revelation. some believe it refers to the Emperor Nero, way to speak about him in code; He was a megalomaniac who persecuted Christians..He committed suicide but people believed he would come back (or that he had gone away and not died). Revelation 13:18: “Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” Abomination of Desolation: The antichrist what is this In Daniel 11, he is described as a king, Ahab : (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly) 1 Kings 18:1-22:40 -He was considered the worst of all the kings. His wife, Jezebel, led him to idolatry when they worshipped the god Baal. He is closely linked with Elijah, as he pursued the prophet for many years with the intention of killing him. This was because Jezebel called for the murders of all the prophets, of which Elijah was the greatest (he won the contest between him and the 400 prophets of Baal). His flesh, as prophesied, was eaten by dogs. Allegory : An allegory, a literary device, is a historical narrative that is seen only as the first level of interpretation: spiritual story. Quite bad, look at this too. Antichrist : (Revelation) 1 John 2:18-19. John's first letter is the only reference to an 'antichrist'. The idea of an antichrist presupposes the idea of a Christ. It perpetuates the dualism that we see in Western culture: light/dark. In the letter from John, there is a sense of plurality of the anti-Christ; not only one (Satan?). And there have been many already at that time... “During this time, there were isolated, sectarian communities and there were people who did not agree and left the community; the author calls them antichrists”. 1 John 4:1-3 gives us more criteria for determining antichrists: those who did not confess certain details (Jesus took on flesh etc.) The idea of an 'antichrist' is seen in much Western art, the most well known example being The Omen....
