Two ways of thinking of bible – multiple authors, and single author [univocality, just god written] Human vs godly authors. And the inbetweens What is western culture? Story of 300 – 5 th 4 th century BCE Reinscribes the conflict between the west and the east. West portrayed by Leonidas, strong man, talk about what they’re fighting for:: liberty, democracy, freedom, etc. East represented by Xerxes, dark, deformed, gross, evil symbolism. Basically the same narritive for ages – conflict b/w west and east still prominent – democratic west vs Islamic east. Border b/w turkey and Greece, etc, is the division. Crossings here, such as Xerxes, and Alexander the Great, are the attacks. Challenges, such as Turkey entering EU still have tough decisions Those countries that adopted Christianity as their religion are largely regarded as the
