The political utility of force today: The fungibility of force: In anarchic realm military power and force is integral to political interaction. Force is fungible: can be used for a wide variety of reasons. (military and non military) Power assets: comparisons and confusions: - Comparing power assets according to their fungibility Power assets a states owns= population- the size, education level, and skills of citizenry, geography-the size, location, natural resource endowment, governance and effectiveness of political system, values, ideology, wealth, sources, nature of its productive economy, leadership, military. Three most fungible assets seem to be wealth, political skill and military power. Economic wealth has highest fungibility: money can buy different things such as good international negotiators, lawyers, bargaining power…. It is also integral to military power. Political skill is second most fungible asset. A skilled political operator can operate in different policy realms because they have good persuasion techniques. (|seling free trade
