Veronique Nydam Breaking a Folkway. .. 1 Over the past few days I’ve thought a lot about what exactly I would do. I’m not a conformist by nature, so thinking of some folkway to break was not easy, considering that I break many unintentionally. I’m not from Miami, not even Florida, I’m from Texas. So it seems like just being a blonde with blue eyes, and not being able to speak Spanish makes me stand out. But I have prevailed. I used my older brother and we found a way to break a folkway! So one folkway that I break on a daily basis, would be the fact that I never wear matching socks ,but my socks are always loud and bright so people notice them right away. That’s not necessarily exciting but people’s reactions always make me laugh. They’re always a little in shock that I would walk around like that, and they don’t even match my outfit! Goodness gracious! My excuse is usually that I’m too lazy to find my sock’s brother, after that I usually just get blank stares or stammered, “Umm, I have to go…”s. But it really doesn’t bother me, I
