E01.V.4.3 Careers in Early Childhood Education Assignment 4_04 September 12, 2015 Learning and Coping with Emotions Introduction In this paper I will discuss and create an age-appropriate activity for my preschool class using Lincoln Logs. I will also develop two activities using the Montessori Method and tell how they are similar and how they differ. Next I will develop appropriate activities that will nurture and challenge the three characteristics that I chose. I will also develop activities that will promote reading/writing amongst 6 and 7 year olds. Lastly, I will discuss challenging behavior, the causes, and how to overcome them for each scenario that is given. Lincoln Logs The material that I chose to use for my activity was Lincoln Logs. With the Lincoln Logs I would play a game. The rule would be to find all the Lincoln logs that roll. This will help the child to develop concentration skills, fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, problem-solving, and social skills. Montessori Method
The Montessori Method is a great way for kids to learn. This style of learning allows a child to teach themselves and feel comfortable within their given boundaries. The activity that I chose is using a turkey baster to transfer water into different containers. This will teach concentration, fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination. This activity falls under the practical life activity in the Montessori Method.
