Ramzi StechEnvironmental FilmAn Inconvenient TruthObservations:The introduction leaves the direction of the movie relatively open ended. The Combination of lecture shots with graphics and animations make for a more interesting film to view due to they fact thatit maintains his voice and his speeches throughout however does not bore the viewer with the same shots of Al Gore for theentirety of the film.Personal connections, like saying “my friend” or “my hometown farm” make the studies and issues more real.Uses different types of graphs and data sets to help hold the viewers attention. He uses projections of studies and relationships to certain areas to relate to audiences to the impacts of global warming. The portion of Al gores presidency campaign seems irrelevant to the message of the film.Visuals of real world natural disasters are more effective than the animations and graphs because they are real people inreal situations that area already happening.Counter argument quotes are used and proven incorrect well. The relatable examples and visuals continue to be more effective. The music during Gore’s final speech is a an excellent addition to the film and grabs the audiences attention due to the lackof music in the preceding speeches.Notes on film as a whole:After reflecting on the film, I think that it tied in so many different and examples that it became hard for those who oppose hisidea to make a strong argument. His point is well understood and I cannot imagine any viewers (who do not already have anopinion) could leave the film and not understand the extreme importance of stopping global warming. While the plethora ofinformation contributed to this, I think that it also was hard to process and hard to get really into one fact or another becauseof how quickly he moved on to another one. Considering the goal of the film was to raise awareness I believe that this wasan effective tool for those who have not yet been exposed to environmental issues but for those who have any sortunderstanding I think that a few less facts and more in depth information and longer explanations on the remaining pointswould be more beneficial. Everyone knows that CO2 is rising but it would be more helpful for environmentalists to knowthings like, by how much and what contributes to it and exactly how to lower CO2 emissions.Ramzi StechEnvironmental FilmWasteland NotesNotes on the Film:The film makes you wonder how the workers feel.Vik Muniz changes from the beginning to the end of the film.
To me it seemed that Vik Muniz was mostly worried about himself and leaving his home but once he got there it seemed likehe changed.Vik seemed to become very concerned with the workers and their families and he dedicated some of his time to their uniontype of thing and making their lives better.
