About Ritchie Valens - Ritchie's full name is Richard Steven Valenzuela - He was born May 13, 1941 in Pacoima, Los Angeles - Ritchie was of Mexican descent - His parents are Joseph Steven Valenzuela and Concepcion Reyes - At 16 he joined the band "The Silhouettes" as the guitarist and singer - He attended Pacoima Junior High School - He is a self-taught musician - Ritchie was signed by Keane to Del-Fi on May 27, 1958
