The Collegeconducts a Green Audit of its campus and facilities. Theaudit is done in three phases.Pre-Audit:The scope of the audit is defined. Various initiativesduring the academic year are confirmed.Audit:The College has been conducting Green Audit since July 2011,on a yearly basis.Post-Audit:The College (Internal Green Audit Team) reviewsenvironment related initiatives that are implemented. It formulates theaction plan for the next academic year in order to have betterenvironmental sensitization.7.1.2 What are the initiatives taken by the college to make the campuseco-friendly?The following are the major environmental initiatives undertaken bythe College.Energy ConservationImplementing energy saving techniques is ensured that the lights andfans are switched off by floor peons and staff after completion of thelast lecture of the day. Air-conditioners in staff room switched on at08.45 a.m. and switched off when the faculty moves to lecture rooms.Further, all the A.C.s are withFive star rating in Power saving.Classrooms are made with sufficient cross ventilation and light so thatthe use of electricity can be minimized.This shows the institution‟scommitment towards energy conservation.Use of Renewable EnergyThe College is planning to install solar panel.Water HarvestingThe College is contemplating installing the water harvesting. Thedrinking water and the washroom water in the campus is beinganalysed by the Microbiology department once in a semester.Check Dam ConstructionNot Applicable

Projects/assignments are also given to studentsbased on topicslike India‟s Carbon Credit policy, Earnings fromCarbon Credit. Industrial waste, e-waste etc.PlantationVarious trees are planted and maintained to keep the campus green.Hazardous waste managementThere are no hazardous chemicals used in the college laboratory. Theminimal wastage is drained after reasonable treatment so as to make itnon hazardous.E-Waste managementNon-working computers, monitors and printers are discarded andscrapped on a systematic basis. If some parts are useful, in othersystems they are kept aside for future use.
