RESEARCH PROPOSAL 2 Ever since computer scientist professor Leonard Kleinrock sent the first message from his lab to another computer miles away to introduce the use of computers to the world, the use of internet has grown to the levels that were have today where billions of people of people use it. Many positives that people enjoy today are as a result of ability of connecting computers and being able to share information and today it is unimaginable having a world without internet. However even with all the positives it is important to analyze the effects of the use of internet and especially to under age people whose ability to make the right decision is not fully developed Research shows that more than half of children under the age of 10 have used social media and Facebook is the most popular site where 52%of children aged between 8 and 16 confessing to having accounts (Comstock, Scharrer, & Comstock, 2007). The research shows that 21% of children using facebook have posted at least one negative comment and similar number have accessed another individuals account and have gone on to post without the individuals permission. 44% of these children have sent a message to a stranger. The study continues to say that children are more likely to send a tweet to a stranger at 12 or upload a video or photo of themselves online at the age of 11. These statistics show that children are exposing themselves to dangers that come from the giving too much personal information to strangers. The
