ChE 3015 Homework #2 – Due on Class #5, Friday 1/27/2006 Block Diagram & FOPDT Model Note: For all homework problems in this course, students are expected to follow the guidelines described in "General Requirements for Homework Assignments" on the "Homework Assignments" part of the class web page. 1. Consider the Heat Exchanger Case Study in Control Station for the case where the system is under closed loop control. You can place the system under closed loop control by starting the heat exchanger case study (it starts in open loop mode) and then by clicking on the "TC" icon. A menu screen appears. Select the "Controller" window and then select "PID". Then click "Done" and the simulation reappears now under closed loop control. Draw and label a closed loop block diagram for this process that has the structure and level of detail seen in Figure 1.4 on p.11 of “Practical Process Control” PPC. Also see Figure 2.2, p.16 PPC for a diagram of the closed loop system. 2.
