The story I have chosen is “The Gift of Magi by O.Henry (1906) “
Describe the core conflict represented in the story.
The main conflict in the gift of magi is Delia wants to buy her husband a Christmas gift, but does
not have the money to do so.
Describe the theme of the story
The theme of the story is the true meaning of love is selflessness. Both Jim and Delia gave u
something that they treasured in order to make each other happy.

Della sacrifices her hair out of love to buy her husband the perfect gift. Jim also makes a sacrifice, and
he sells his watch for the perfect gift.
What is so ironic about it is, those gifts that that got each other
