Week 4 Discussion 2One major foreign policy event of the Cold War was the Marshall Plan, named after Secretary of State George C. Marshall, also called the European Recovery Program. The Marshall Plan required all European nations to provide American Aid and it successfully sparked economic recovery. This plan was addressed at a commencement speech before the graduating class of Harvard University in June 1947 (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). Under the Marshall Plan, relief packages were stamped with an emblem to inform Europeans that the aid they were receiving came from the United States (Barnes & Bowles, 2014).
