ROCOCO 2Abstract I will define the art of Rococo. I will introduce three portraits from three different artists during the Rococo art era. I will discuss briefly each of the artist’s history. I will discuss the subject matters of each portrait and note what was going on during that time. I will discuss themes of each painting. I will give the portraits size and material used for the masterpieces and explain why I chose the three works. Lastly, I will show how different the three selections are and yet contributed a great deal to romanticism of the Rococo art.
ROCOCO 3The Enchanting Rococo ArtThe three artworks chosen for the assignment are from the Rococo style of art. This periodhas been chosen because the artwork shows beautiful females in delicate poses. Rococo isderived from the word rocaille, which means pebble. Rococo art came after the Baroque timeperiod. This type of art was initially restricted to France and later spread to all of Europe. Themovement continued to develop until the arrival of Neoclassicism, which attempted to return toworks that are more classical (Art in Sight, n.d.). Rococo art themes depicted aristocrats at playin make-believe settings. Romantic scenes show luxuriously costumed flirting, picnicking andplaying music at gallant country parties. The background scenery is often a serene natural settingwith delicate trees, in a decorated room and of women wearing roses (Art in Sight, n.d.). Thefigures are tall and willowy, stylish and charming. The woman faces were presented as soft and
