1. To-infinitive
- Sau các đ ng t : Agre , appear, afford, ask, demand, expect, hesitate, intend, ộ ừ
invite, want, wish, hope, promise, decide, tell, refuse, learn, fail (th t b i), ấ ạ
plan, manage, pretend (gi v ), remind, persuade, encourage, force, order, urge ả ờ
(thúc gi c), seem, tend, threaten,… ụ
- Trong các c u trúc: ấ

It takes / took + O + th i gian + to-inf ờ

Ch m c đích (đ ) ỉ ụ ể

Sau các t h i: what, where, when, how, … ừ ỏ

It + be + adj + to-inf: th t … đ .. ậ ể
Ex: It is interesting to study English
+ S + be + adj + to-inf
Ex: I’m happy to receive your latter.

S + V + too + adj / adv + to-inf

S + V + adj / adv + enough + to-inf

S + find / think / believe + it + adj + to-inf
Ex: I find it difficult to learn English vocabulary.

Ex: I don’t know what to say.
* Note:

allow / permit/ advise / recommend + O + to-inf She allowed me to use
her pen.

allow / permit / advise / recommend + V-ing She didn’t allow smoking
in her room.
2. Bare infinitive (V1)
Đ ng t nguyên m u không to đ c dùng: ộ ừ ẫ ượ

Sau đ ng t khi m khuy t: can, will, shall, could, would,… ộ ừ ế ế

Sau các đ ng t : let, make, would rather, had better ộ ừ
Ex: They made him repeat the whole story.
- Help + to-inf / V1 / with Noun

Ex: He usually helps his sister to do her homework.
He usually helps his sister do her homework.
He usually helps his sister with her homework.
II. GERUND (V-ing)
- Sau các đ ng t : enjoy, avoid, admit, appreciate (đánh giá cao), mind (quan ộ ừ
tâm, ng i), finish, practice, suggest, postpone (hoãn l i), consider (xem xét), ạ ạ
hate, admit (th a nh n), like, love, deny (ph nh n), detest (ghét), keep (ti p ừ ậ ủ ậ ế
t c), miss (b l ), imagine (t ng t ng), mention, risk, delay (trì hoãn), …. ụ ỏ ỡ ưở ượ
- Sau các c m đ ng t : cant’ help (không th không), can’t bear / can’t stand ụ ộ ừ ể
(không th ch u đ c), be used to, get used to, look forward to, it’s no use / it’s ể ị ượ
no good (không có ích l i gì), be busy, be worth (đáng giá) ợ
- Sau gi i t : in, on, at, from, to, about … ớ ừ
- Sau các liên t : after, before, when, while, since,… ừ
Ex: You should lock the door when leaving your room.
- S + spend / waste + time / money + V-ing
Ex: I spent thirty minutes doing this exercise.
III. INFINITIVE OR GERUND
1. Không thay đ i nghĩa: ổ
- begin / start / continue/ like / love + To-inf / V-ing
Ex: It started to rain / raining.
2. Thay đ i nghĩa: ổ

remember / forget / regret + V-ing: nh / quên/ nu i ti c vi c đã x y ra ớ ố ế ệ ả

Ex: Don’t forget to turn off the light when you go to bed.

Remember to send her some flowers because today is her birthday.

Ex: He stopped smoking because it is harmful for his health.
On the way home, I stopped at the post office to buy a newspaper.



