INTRODUCTION & HISTORY The case outlines PepsiCo's diversity journey under the leadership of Steve Reinemund as chairman and CEO (2001 to 2006). PepsiCo was formed in 1965 from the merger of Pepsi-Cola and Frito Lay Inc. It had 19000 employees with first year sales of $510 million. As part of business enhancement practices, PepsiCo was one of the first companies to recognize the importance of people of color within the workplace and target market.

PROBLEM STATEMENTS 1. Poor penetration of PepsiCo products across demography with significant ethnic population and high attrition of minority. 2. Employees concern on Indra Nooyi’s ability to continue the diversity strategy prevailing within the organization .

MR. REINEMUND’S ERA Steve Reinemund was the first senior leader at PepsiCo to focus on diversity and inclusion from a perspective of changing the entire culture of PepsiCo. He partnered with his leadership team and employees throughout the organization to make diversity a key factor in PepsiCo's culture and performance.
