Joshua Pampreen April 15, 2008 PSY 100 “Eating into the Nation’s Obiesity Epidemic” by Ann Conkle 1. The main point that the author, Ann Conkle, tries to make is that the America food industry has too much influence over what kinds of nutritional decisions consumers make. Also, she states that the government does not do enough to provide Americans with good nutritional information (as an example of this she tells how a crowd of people can recite candy slogans but do not know the departments that create the federal governments nutritional guidelines). 2. One of the most important statements that is made in the article is to show the disparity between the amount of effort that is put in by the government to show people how to eat in a healthy way and the amount of effort put in by food companies to push their unhealthy foods. Another important fact that Ann states is the five factors that influence food choice: accessibility, convenience, taste, promotion, and cost. Finally, she states that the only treatment with good results
