John Mayer- Waiting On the World to Change 1. I think the purpose of this song is to show how little of a say the younger generation has, yet we’re the majority of the fighters over in Iraq. Also how wars just keep repeating themselves so if we aren’t taken seriously or allowed to have our say, we just have to sit back and wait for the world to change. 2. I think this is directed towards the older generation to show what we’re feeling. For example, the first verse “Me and all my friends, we’re all misunderstood, they say we stand for nothing, and there’s no way we ever could. Now we see everything that’s going wrong, with the world and those who lead it. We just feel like we don’t have the means to rise above and beat it.” 3. This is a very catchy song by a very popular artist. Many people sing it without even listening to the lyrics, not realizing what it’s about. Music is a way our generation gets our feelings out rather than using the news or newspapers.
