ANTHROPOLOGY 106: CULTURE THROUGH FILM Study Guide for Midterm Exam (March 11, 2008) Prof. Krista Harper Preview of the midterm Exam # 1 will consist of two parts.  The  first section  (1/3 the total grade) includes multiple- choice questions based on the key concepts covered in lecture and the readings as well as  map questions (identifying the location of a film featured in the course so far).  The  second  section  (2/3 the total grade) consists of short-essay questions requiring a 4-6 sentence  response with examples drawn from the readings and films.   The questions and terms will  be a subset of the lists presented on this study guide--you’ll be asked to answer 4 short  essay questions from a list of 5.   The test will be 75 minutes, followed by a film. A note on notes Each student may bring a single 3x5 card with notes for the exam—you may use both sides and write/print out really small. Students from past semesters have said that compiling this notecard was one of the best ways to prepare for the exam. A word to the wise Get together with other students from the class to study for the test—you’ll not only fill in gaps in  your notes, but by discussing the questions, you’ll get better at articulating your ideas to others.
