Charles Arnold Professor Schwartz 2/8/08 Solar Energy: The next Fossil Fuel? What is the one thing that keeps this place that we call Earth turning day in and day out? What is the one thing that we depend on the most to function everyday? The answer is the sun. The sun is the biggest energy source that we have in our universe. I have read an article on the pros and cons of solar energy and the way we can use it to better our society. Let me start out with the pro’s of using solar power to our advantage. The main advantage that we do get from solar energy is that it is very cheap. “The main advantage to using solar power is that it can save you money. Although you will have to spend some money in order to get a good system installed at your property, once installed the energy that you are drawing from the sun itself is free.”(Article base.com, 2/07/08). Have you looked at the price of a barrel of oil in the past couple of months? “Because you do not have to rely on fuel to provide the energy to your home you are not likely to incur the kinds of costs that others have to face.”(Article base.com, 2/7/08). So this means that you will not have to deal with going to fill your car with gas every other day. You can put solar panels on your car, like the guy from Honey I Blew up the Kid. This has become even more apparent in the last few months because we have seen an increase in the cost of a barrel of oil. With using solar energy all you have to do in convert the sunlight into energy and you have a way to power your car. That means basically
