Cloning: Right or Wrong When the term cloning comes up today in society it considered a very controversial subject when it is brought up in conversations. First of all cloning is a type of biotechnology. The dictionary on Microsoft word defines cloning as genetics a plant, animal, or other organism that is genetically identical to its parent, having developed by vegetative reproduction from a bulb, cutting, or other part, or, in experimental conditions, from a single cell. To put it in a nutshell it is basically making a genetic copy of a living organism precisely. In this paper I will discuss my opinion on the article that I chose which I found on biology online.com. I will also discuss the pros and the cons of genetic cloning as well as my opinion on the matter of cloning. The record of the first animal being cloned was a sheep called Dolly. Up until now, she had not experienced any bad side effects, but scientists now say that her health has started to deteriorate. The first pro of cloning is the most obvious one to all scientists around the country agree on which is “Disease could be prevented by detecting people/plants/animals that are genetically prone to certain hereditary diseases, and preparing for the inevitable. Also, infectious diseases can be treated by implanting genes that code for antiviral proteins specific to each antigen.”(Biology Online.com).
