Module 1, Functions & Relations AssignmentIn this activity you will explore relations and functions, as well as domain and range. You have learned that arelationis any connection that exists between two sets of values. Afunctionis a relation where each value in the first set is related to one, and only one, value in thesecond set.Consider the relationship between the amount of time each student in a class studies for theirAlgebra 2 quiz and the grade that each student earns.Set 1 is the amount of time studied.Set 2 is the grade earned. This example is a relation but it is not a function because two students could each study for thesame amount of time but earn two different grades. There are many ways to represent both relations and functions including mapping diagrams andpoints on the xy-plane.Mapping diagrams represent how the values in the input set relate to the values in the output set.
