Free writing – 1/20/08 Kimberly Rauch Prompt #4 – What is the value and what are the limitations of Blink? Be sure to clarify the audience for whom you are assessing its value and limitations. The book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell is aimed at a certain audience, an adult audience with interest in learning. Blink has a great value in it. It tries to teach the reader how to use our judgment to the highest possible effectiveness. However, there are also limitations to the book as well. For instance, not explaining in depth the outcome of the book, before Gladwell wrote the afterword, the book ended abruptly and without a common goal. This book can be found in bookstores in psychology and self help; however it never seemed to tell the reader how to help themselves. If the reader is a person looking for a way to improve the way they perceive life around them, the value in the book goes down greatly. It isn’t clear how to do what he states as his goals. A self help book usually has steps in which the reader must follow to
