In this scenario, as the Hawk’s coach, I would have to tell the umpire the truth and
give the play to the Squirrels. In youth sports, it is imperative as a coach to teach your
players the value of telling the truth as well as good sportsmanship. One thing that I would
train as a coach is putting my players into the shoes of the other team. Asking them that if
the tables were turned would they want the other coach to tell the truth? I have played
sports my entire life and with that come similar ethical situations. As a youth player, I recall
an unethical sport situation that caused my coach to call the game early to avoid further
injury and to protect our safety. When I was in 5th grade I was on a team named “Storm,”
and we were one of the best teams in the league. My coach Derek had signed us up for a
tournament in Yakima. As the tournament progressed, we continued to win but then came
