Examples: 2000- VT offered same sex couples civil unions. 2003- TX banned same sex marriage. States w/o income taxes: Alaska FL NV SD TX WA WY NH & TN dont have an income tax, but have interest and divided income rates. The states w/o income taxes have HIGHER taxes in other areas. IE: Property taxes, hotel taxes (FL). Six Core Ideals of Political Culture: 1. Liberty- Individual should be able to free to act and think as they choose. 2. Equality- all individuals are equal in their moral wealth and are entitled to equal treatment under the law. 3. Self Government- People are the ultimate source of governing authority and must have a voice in how they are governed. 4.
