Steve Cifelli Professor Koniwitz ENGL 102 2/09/08 What it means to be American. Being an American means much more than living in the United States. There several benefits like equality for all, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. To be an American mans to be free and full of opportunity by expressing your rights as an American. To express freedom of speech means to express your own opinion. In America we can choose any religion we want. Equality for all means that everybody has an equal opportunity get an education and job in America. As Americans, we are proud of the privileges we have because other countries do not have all these rights. Americans have the chance to get a good education and get an enjoyable career. Unlike other countries, American people of all different backgrounds can live and work together this is because of an equal opportunity for everybody. Americans are proud of what the United States has accomplished. America has become a major influence to other countries around the world.
