Economics 106 Spring 2008 UCSC Dan Friedman Ground Rules for the Term Project Students will be evaluated primarily on a term paper relating the course material to their major field. Here are some points to keep in mind while thinking about your paper and writing it up. Joint papers are encouraged, with up to 4 coauthors. Such papers should have separate chapters or sections, each with a different lead author. You should be lead writer on some section, even if all coauthors are involved in all sections. A statement explaining the division of labor, signed by you and your coauthors, should be attached to a joint paper. You should plan on personally writing 30-35 standard sized (1.5 to double spaced) pages during the quarter. The final version of your paper (or your section of a joint paper) will probably be 10-20 pages. You should be a member of a writing group that includes several non-coauthors as well as any coauthors. As a member of a writing group, you are responsible for constructively criticizing the writing of other group members, and for circulating your own drafts to other group members.
