Shelby CadwalladerAC1302965World Civilization I HS 150Assignment 6July 11, 2016What major changes in political structures, social and economic life occurred during each of the following: the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty?The Sui Dynasty, was a short-lived Chinese dynasty that unified China after four centuries of fragmentation. The Sui Dynasty had only three emperors and lasted 38 years,from 589 to 618 CE. In 581, the Sui Dynasty began, when a member of the ruling clan of Northern Zhou killed about 60 of his brothers and existing relatives. He then chose to make himself emperor of his kingdom. This courageous emperor was Yang Jian, who wasformerly known as Emperor Wen, regined from 589 to 604 CE (World History Volume 1). His main goal was to focus forging and restoring connections. Other proclaimed that his objective was to control both regions. For Emperor Wen to do this, he initiated largeconstruction projects called Confucian bureaucrats, which initiated major wars. Emperor Wen revised a law code that was nationwide and he restored the civil service (World History Volume I). The first project that Emperor Wen had were: building the Grand Canal, which was a waterway connecting the north and the south regions, which recon-struction the Great Wall. This canal would help transportation to his capital much easier.The second goal of Emperor Wen was to conquer Vietnam. Emperor Wen died in 604 and some say he was killed by his son Yangdo. Emperor Yangdo continued his father's struction projects. He alienated his people by imposing heavy taxes, along with hiring labors to complete the Grand Canal and the Great Wall. Emperor Yangdo ruined the economy completely, which caused rebellions by various leaders. Emperor Yangdo was
