Unformatted text preview: Danny Vo Mr. O’Rourke Government October 31, 2005 Bush to Unveil Bird Flu Strategy Article Title This article, found on CNN.com, deals with a new virus called the Bird Flu Virus H5N1, originating in Asia. Although this virus circulates primarily among flocks of birds in Asia, it has started to migrate to flocks of birds in Europe and Russia, and even to humans. With humans however, it is less common, but still a risk. Thus far, these have been approximately 121 human cases of the Bird Flu with 62 deaths. This strand of influenza, unlike any other, has a mortality rate of greater than 50 percent making it extremely dangerous. Scientists are debating whether or not this Bird Flu will be the next pandemic, for there have only been 3 pandemics in the last century, leaving the world overdue. With this in mind, President George Bush is spending over century, leaving the world overdue....
