Andrea Brower Business Law Paper: Tiger Attacks Due Date: 04/10/08 On December 25 th , Christmas Day, three kids were attacked by a Siberian Tiger at the San Francisco Zoo. One of them died, and the other two, who were brothers, the Dhaliwals, left with significant injuries, needing a lot of medical attention. The brothers then filed a suit to the city, who allegedly failed in its “responsibility to the public to prevent injury by dangerous animals.” These are the pleadings in the case. Which tell us what the defendant has done wrong. The brothers, (now plaintiffs in this court case) are seeking punitive damages for not only the physical harm done to them, but also the emotional harm that was brought upon them. During the time when investigating the incident of the tiger attack, the police took the brothers’ car and cell phone to further investigate if there was any wrong- doing to the tiger to instigate the attacks. The Dhaliwals are now also seeking further damages to be paid for wrongfully holding their vehicle when it was needed, especially after the department ended its investigation on January 29 th , 2008 with no findings of wrongful doing by the attacked men.
